The Bride with White Hair is a 1993 Hong Kong film directed by Ronny Yu, starring Brigitte Lin and Leslie Cheung.

The film’s main character is loosely based on the protagonist of Liang Yusheng‘s novel Baifa Monü Zhuan.

Zhuo Yihang was raised by Taoist Ziyang of the Wudang Sect and groomed to become a young chivalrous swordsman. He is placed in command of a coalition army formed by the eight major orthodox martial arts sects, which aim to prevent an evil cult from infiltrating China. During a battle against the cult, Zhuo Yihang meets a young woman called Lian Nichang and falls in love with her.

What I truly enjoyed about this film is the fact that it was such an epic romeo and juliet story. I loved the fact it was placed in a traditional wuxia film. Its a great watch. Not just for the action but for the story. I loved every minute of it. It was just so epic. I saw it many years ago but even now I still have fond memories of it. If you are a martial arts film fan then this is one for you.
